Story of My Life is our Song of the Week this week, and it comes from the American punk rock band Social Distortion who were formed in 1978 by lead singer and guitarist Mike Ness. This is the third song from the third album, also called Social Distortion, which was released in 1990, and was to be their mainstream break through album.
The band drew their inspiration from various sources, most notably, The Sex Pistols, the Clash, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Eddie Cochran and Bob Dylan, not too shabby a list in our humble opinion!
In May 2024, Ness told the magazine Guitar World, that he was undergoing treatment for throat cancer and that he had started work on a new album and was about to go back out on tour. He said that he hoped to have the album ready for release sometime in 2025.
A grand tune. The best this year in my opinion.
