It's time for 'Song of the Week' again, and this time, I have chosen the tune I was going to use last Sunday until I discovered that Steve Harley had passed.
My chose of song was released on 23 September 1977 and was the single from the album of the same name, the album being released on 14 October 1977. The song was written by Brian Eno and David Robert Jones, better known as David Bowie, who was 30 years old at the time and included Robert Fripp (King Crimson) on guitar.
It is alleged that most of the tracks were composed on the spot in the studio, with the lyrics not being written until Bowie stood in front of the microphone! Furthermore, this track was released in English, French, and German (the entire album was made in Berlin), and I chose the German version because I prefer it for some reason!
So here is the song ‘Helden’ by David Bowie (you will know it, I promise, if you haven't already sussed it out!)
My one dissappointment with the German version is that is it only 3:39 long whereas the original English version is 6:07! Hay ho….
